Dental crowns provide a natural looking and conservative treatment for a variety of dental concerns including teeth that are broken, worn or missing. A dental crown covers the tooth, like a “cap”, restoring beauty, strength and function to teeth.
Dental crowns are used to:
- Correct bite issues
- Protect teeth weakened by decay or damage
- Replace old metal dental fillings
- Restore dental implants
- Reinforce teeth after root canal therapy
- Improve the appearance, color or shape of teeth
- Secure dental bridges
Single Visit Crowns
SCM Dental utilizes the latest dental technology such as the CEREC system to provide single visit dental crowns. Traditionally, the process for receiving a dental crown took multiple visits, requiring messy impressions, extensive preparation and uncomfortable temporaries. Using CAD/CAM technologies, CEREC produces indirect ceramic dental crowns in just one visit.
After preparing the tooth, digital impressions are taken using a special camera which captures the tooth’s precise specifications. Next, the dental crown is created using computer aided design and manufacturing (CAD/CAM) technology. In just minutes, the dental crown is ready! We check to ensure a perfect fit and match for color, then permanently bond the dental crown and gently polished to a beautiful, natural looking shine.
Dental crowns are made of a variety of materials, depending on where in the mouth the dental crown is being placed. Modern materials and improved techniques make today’s dental crowns look and feel more like natural teeth. With the CEREC system, we use strong, tooth colored ceramic to match the natural teeth for a virtually indistinguishable restoration. Dental crowns are durable, stain resistant and very easy to care for. With a proper oral health routine, dental crowns will last for many years.
